PUTRAJAYA - Tan Sri Annuar Musa has expressed interests in contesting for the coming 15th General Election (GE15) but he also understand that his candidacy was to be ultimately decided by Umno's upper echelons.
Annuar, who is also the caretaker communications and multimedia minister, said that his desire represent Umno in GE15 stemmed from his "passion to serve" the people.
"If we have the desire to serve, then we must have a desire to be a candidate. That is my desire. However, it is up to the party to decide on candidates," said the incumbent Ketereh MP.
Earlier, in his speech at an event here, the Ketereh Umno division chief said he has stood for state and parliamentary elections eight times, winning five times and remarked that he still has what it takes to be a winnable candidate for Umno.
Annuar however, had -- over the past few months -- came under fire from his peers in Umno over his seemingly friendly stance with rival party, Pribumi Bersatu.
In fact, prior to the dissolution of parliament, Annuar was among the few Umno ministers who were reported of not being in favour of conducting GE15 this year, claiming that then-government was already stable.
Two days ago, he had apparently sang a different tune, describing GE15 as being held at the most opportune time which can enable the people to elect a stable and strong government.
In GE14, Annuar won the Ketereh parliamentary seat with a majority of 4,626 votes.
