BAYAN BARU - There is no cooperation or conspiracy between Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Umno as claimed by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar said the matter was just a rumour that was deliberately played out ahead of the 15th General Election (GE15).
She said PKR was now focusing on strengthening the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition in addition to fuelling the public's sense of responsibility to go out and vote to elect a trustworthy leader in GE15 this time.
"I'm sure the allegations are just unhealthy rumours ahead of the general election, but the focus at the moment is to strengthen the PH coalition and focus on the machinery not only in Penang but also in Perlis and Kedah to face our enemies.
"The situation makes it even more sad as people are in dilemma because we have to choose between voting or saving ourselves.
"On that basis, how can I support the party that has clearly brought us into this dilemma and danger, especially the Umno president," she told reporters after the launching of Jelajah Prihatin Deepavali Penang PKR at Wisma PKR Penang here on Sunday.
In the meantime, Nurul Izzah who is also the party’s leadership council chairman for Penang, Kedah and Perlis said the party was currently strengthening the machinery against three enemies which were the party components in Perikatan Nasional (PN).
"Surely we want voters to be aware and clear which is honey and which is poison.
"Apart from that, PH will definitely present a credible candidate in GE15 who will be able to provide the best service for the people and the country," she said.
Last Friday, it was reported that Bersatu demanded for Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to explain to the people regarding allegations of confidential discussions between the two leaders.
Bersatu's information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan said the claims were made by PH members to him in order to form cooperation between the two parties to reduce clashes during GE15.
He said although it did not receive the blessing of the Umno and PKR leadership, many discussion had been held.
