SHAH ALAM - The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) will probe a group of religious leaders who claim to be descendants of the Prophet Muhammad.
Its director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said several religious ceremonies by the group in Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah and Melaka have been canceled.
"I am not saying we should punish them for being wrong but since other states have done the same (to stop religious ceremonies), something must be wrong.
"If it is true (they are not descendants of the Prophet), maybe we will give their details to Immigration and bar them from entering Malaysia," he said.
Shahzihan added the organisers of the religious ceremony and the owner of the Raja Muda Musa Hall (DRMM) here were also instructed to cancel the event which was supposed to be held on Sunday.
He said the notice was issued on Thursday because the application to organise the programme did not get approval from JAIS.
"The instruction was issued last Thursday, because we just found out that he (the organiser) did not apply (permission to organise the programme) to JAIS.
"If they apply to JAIS, usually we will investigate the background of the group first," he added.
Recently, it was reported a group claiming to be descendants of the Prophet were in Malaysia, and had organised religious ceremonies in several states.
