KUALA LUMPUR - Sabah and Sarawak will enjoy rapid development following an increase of allocations under the Budget 2023 tabled today in Parliament by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
He said a total of RM6.3 billion was allocated for Sabah and RM5.4 billion to Sarawak with a focus on infrastructure for water, electricity, roads, health and education.
"For this year, we are focusing more on Sabah and Sarawak especially for the poor (conditions of) schools, hospitals and clinics there.
"The amount given is also huge due to the Pan Borneo highway there we would like to escalate it and finish in 2024,” he said during a press conference after tabling the budget in Dewan Rakyat today.
Zafrul tabled the Budget 2023 themed "Keluarga Malaysia, Prospering Together" which allocates a total of RM372.3 billion.
The budget focuses on the 3R agenda; Responsive, Responsible and Reformist.
