SHAH ALAM – Rural Development Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid believes that the newly tabled Budget 2023 is in line with his ministry’s goal in creating prosperity in Malaysia’s rural regions.
Mahdzir was of such opinion following the four per cent increment of allocation for his ministry; which totaled to RM10.93 billion, compared to Budget 2022.
"It is a testament of the Keluarga Malaysia government in implementing the rural prosperity agenda. The ministry would like to thank the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister for this inclusive budget,” said Mahdzir in a statement today.
He explained that RM3.62 billion will be used for management purposes whereas the remaining RM7.31 billion will be for development purposes.
"This is to support the socio-economic development in the rural areas as well as creating a prosperous rural environment as outlined in the Rural Development Policy 2030,” Mahdzir added.
Carrying a total allocation of RM372.3 billion, Budget 2023 was tabled in the Dewan Rakyat by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
The supplementary bill which will be debated by parliamentarians starting next Tuesday, was crafted based on the government’s 3R agenda; namely, Responsive, Responsible and Reformist.
