RM55 billion for subsidies, financial aid and incentives

KUALA LUMPUR - The government has allocated RM55 billion specifically for subsidies, assistance and incentives under the 2023 Budget.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said the large amount was aimed at minimising the cost of living including through price control of goods and services.

"The government is to ensure that basic necessities such as cooking oil, gas, petrol and diesel reached the rural population at affordable prices," he said during the 2023 Budget tabling in Parliament on Friday.
