SHAH ALAM - The decision of the three states led by Pakatan Harapan (PH) refusing to dissolve the State Legislative Assembly (Dun) if the 15th General Election (GE15) is held soon is proof that the opposition is not prepared to face BN.
Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the experience of their losses in the Melaka, Johor and Sarawak State Elections (SE) showed that PH was no longer accepted by their voters.
"This was PH's main worry and BN's enemy, to avoid this loss they must try to avoid facing the election that is not siding with their victory.
"They were willing to direct their state government not to dissolve the Dun based on this fear even though they had been vocal towards making a separate decision before this," he said in his broadcast on his Facebook on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, PH Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said three states led by PH would not be following the Federal government's steps if GE15 would be held during the flood season.
Zahid said PH had always stated the election costs were big even though their actions not to dissolve Dun would be a waste, increasing the government’s expenditure.
"This time the opposition is using the monsoon season to avoid the elections.
"This was a stale excuse and highlighted the lack of courage of the opposition in the face of BN.
"The opposition's excuse appears to be their lack of confidence and belittles the experience and professionalism of public institutions including health, safety and disaster agencies," he said.
