SHAH ALAM - Umno has no right to force Prime Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob to dissolve the Parliament and hold the 15th General Election (GE15), says Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said Ismail Sabri currently has the majority support and was able to make the final decision.
"Umno has 38 Parliamentarians. In the system, 38 Parliamentarians cannot force (make the decision).
"The decision has to be made by the Prime Minister, the Prime Minister has the power and can think logically as Prime Minister,” he said in a Astro Amani report today.
Last Friday, the Umno Supreme Council said they had decided on a date to dissolve the Parliament and carry out GE15 this year.
Meanwhile, Anwar also said he will table motion on the economy and how it has affected the lives of the people in this country in the Dewan Rakyat.
"I will bring forward this motion on the rising cost of living and price increase. We asked the Prime Minister to table the motion but he did not want to do it, so I am bring the motion,” he said.
The Port Dickson MP said two days ago that he will table the motion in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday to debate about the current economic situation in the country including price hikes and the drop in Ringgit value to the Yang di-Pertua Dewan Rakyat via a written reply.
