SHAH ALAM- The importance of maintaining racial harmony in the country are among the topics veteran social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye has penned down in his 'Aura Lee Lam Thye' book.
Lam Thye, 76 said the book aims to state that multi-racial society is not a threat.
The former Bukit Bintang MP said the 324-page book recounts his experience when he was elected as people's representative during the bloody May 13 riots.
"The events of May 13 May were among the black spots in Malaysian history. I am of the view that it is crucial for all of us to learn about the bitter experience and everyone including politicians to ensure it does not happen again," he told Sinar Harian.
The importance of maintaining racial harmony among topics penned by veteran social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye's book.
He hoped the book will create awareness and instill respect regardless of religious background, race and skin colour.
"We hold the principle of moderation in this regard," he said.
The book, published in Malay, English and Mandarin was authored by journalists Sofeah Chok Suat and P Selvarani.
It also touches Lee's life and his service to the nation till today.
"This book is an injection and motivation to the young to always serve the community," commented Lee.
