SHAH ALAM - Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri should not be afraid if Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi threatens to withdraw his support for the prime minister, DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke said.
He said even if Zahid did so, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Ismail Sabri’s administration and Pakatan Harapan (PH) still stands.
"I’ve said in Parliament before and have advised Ismail Sabri on this.
"You are the prime minister today. Act as the prime minister and not just a party follower,” he said during his speech at a special DAP congress today.
Loke also said DAP was ready to face the elections any time and warned the prime minister and Umno members would be punished by Malaysians if they were dissolve Parliament and call for elections during the flooding season.
"We are not afraid but we feel that the monsoon season is not suitable to hold elections. We are ready to face the election even if it's called tomorrow.
"Bubar lah Parlimen kalau jantan (if you are manly, dissolve the Parliament). But we are not challenging you to do so," he said as the crowd started cheering in the hall.
DAP today will amend its party constitution banning its members of Parliament, state assemblymen and senators from hopping to another party.
The special congress was held today at the Ideal Convention Centre Shah Alam with over 1200 delegates attending the event.
