SHAH ALAM - Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says he is ready to be the prime minister for the third time if people continue to urge him to take responsibility.
Dr Mahathir, the Langkawi MP added if he returns as the prime minister, he may not plan to serve for five years.
"If I want to think about the position, I prefer to rest. But even when resting, I will play the role for people to refer to or give advice. That can be done," he said.
The Chairman of Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) recently said there are several parties that had urged him to lead the country again but had not made any decision.
Dr Mahathir said he wanted to establish Pejuang but did not intend to be the prime minister then.
"I just wanted policies to help the Malays drawn and implemented by a government that cares and loves the nation, the country and the religion," said the Pejuang chairman.
