IPOH - The State Agricultural Development Corporation (Perak SADC) has allocated as much as RM306 million to guarantee food supply and food security as part of the state’s Prosperous Perak 2030 main agenda.
In a statement, Perak SADC is confident that the effort will be carried out through two segments which involve investment projects and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes aimed at ensuring the well-being of the people of Perak.
"Perak SADC's focus involves programmes in the beef cattle breeding and supply industry, poultry farming, durian cultivation, livestock feed as well as Perak SADC's investments in related strategic industries.
"Under the CSR programme, among the projects that will be implemented include the Smart Large-Scale Padi Field programme, the SADC Entrepreneurship Programme, the Food Security Academy and Community Farming,” the statement read.
All projects implemented by Perak SADC together with other government departments and agencies are not only aimed at meeting the food needs of the people but also in line with the state government's efforts to become the country's main food supplier, it said.
Perak SADC also places long-term planning as a necessity and a priority to be the catalyst for income generation.
"To ensure that these aspirations are sustainable, Perak SADC is also committed to increasing the ownership of new farming areas with a target of 10,000 hectares,” the statement read. - Bernama
