Designer Kim Jones is set to present his upcoming Dior Men’s Pre-Fall collection in Egypt.
The highly anticipated Dior’s show will take place in the foreground of Giza pyramids near Egypt’s capital Cairo on Dec 3 marking the French House’s latest destination runway.
This is going to be the first time Dior will host a show following previous collections shown in Spain, China, Greece, Italy, South Korea, the UK and the US in recent years.
Notably, the French fashion house’s spring 2004 haute couture collection by John Galliano was a tribute to Ancient Egypt.
"Designed by Kim Jones, the celestial collection celebrates a lifelong passion for travel," wrote the brand in a statement to WWD.
Jones who spent his childhood years in Botswana, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya and Ghana suggested that the show will honour a long-standing connection to the continent.
The son of a hydrogeologist continues travelling the globe to gather inspiration and catch glimpse of rare and exotic animals in their natural habitat.
The voyaging visionary who was named creative director of Dior Homme in 2018 has a penchant for staging men’s pre-fall collections abroad as he initially carried the House tradition with runways in Miami and Tokyo and last year, revived the pre-COVID custom with a show in London.
Notably, namesake designer Christian Dior is revered for his international outlook and global-minded business strategies specifically for founding worldwide outposts not long after establishing his eponymous label in 1947.
Meanwhile, it is not the first time for Egypt to witness such fashion shows as Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab previously held a fashion show in Abdeen Place in December 2021.
