PONTIAN - Umno has received a list of candidates proposed by the majority of 191 divisions to contest in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said this shows Umno is now on its last momentum for elections.
"Half of the 191 Umno divisions across the country have sent their list of candidates, identified to represent the party," he said, adding that the reminder are in the process of finalising their lists.
The Pontian MP was speaking to reporters after the Farmers' Sports Carnival held for Malaysia Day at Kampung Parit Baru Ayer Baloi here, today.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob hinted that GE15 would be held as soon as possible.
Ismail Sabri is also reported to have repeated his stance and promise to immediately discuss with Umno's 'Top Five' the dissolution of Parliament.
In the meantime, Ahmad wants the Youth, Women, Puteri and Voting District Centres to streamline their election machinery, further urging Umno machinery to start a virtual campaign to approach young voters on current issues.
