JAKARTA - Indonesia has established an emergency response team to investigate the leak of data belonging to public figures as well as letters addressed to President Joko Widodo.

Minister of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) Johnny G. Plate said the team will comprise the National Cyber and Encryption Agency, Kominfo, the police and the Indonesian State Intelligence Agency (Bin).

"They will examine the data circulated including by the hacker, 'Bjorka'," he said after a meeting with the President at Istana Merdeka, today.

However, an initial review found that the leaked data was of general status and not the latest specific data, said Johnny.

During the past week, 'Bjorka' claimed to have obtained some data belonging to the ministry including letters belonging to Joko Widodo as well as letters from intelligence agencies.

Meanwhile, Johnny said Kominfo is still waiting for the debate schedule in Parliament on the data protection bill for strengthening the country's cyber security infrastructure. - Bernama
