SHAH ALAM - Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was admitted to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) last Friday for an elective case (non-emergency) to ensure his health is at an optimum level.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said related examinations and tests were carried out by certified senior consultants which consisted of the heads of clinical services in their respective fields.
"HKL also held a family conference two times which was attended by the former premiere and his family members.
"The results of the tests were announced during the conference in accordance with the professional practice of medicine,” he said in a statement.
Noor Hisham said a unanimous decision was made based on the consulting experts that Najib Razak will be allowed to be discharged from HKL.
"It is also informed that the types of drugs prescribed during admission to the ward are of the same type and in the list of KKM drugs.
"His condition was also healthy before being allowed to be discharged from HKL,” he said.
He said the Health Ministry was committed and transparent in providing health services to any individual, but at the same time had the responsibility to comply with the ethics of patient confidentiality under the Medical Act 1971 (Amendment 2012).
"Any detailed information about a patient's health can be presented to the Court if directed by the Court,” he added.
