KUALA LUMPUR - The country is able to combat rising inflation if leaders care for the rakyat, said PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, adding there is lack of information on measures taken despite countless committees set up.
This comes as the ringgit falls further against the greenback.
"They (the government) have established a lot of committees but what's clear right now is that the price of the goods keep on increasing and we do not even have a clear information on it," he said during his speech at 'Rapat Mega Keadilan' programme in Taman Melawati, here.
This, he said is due to the rising of import prices as the value of ringgit falls.
"Our currency is dropping because it is not stable. People are not confident and investors are not coming in," the opposition leader added.
Commenting further, he said the economic issues are crucial as it involves households and leaders need to be responsible to fight against inflation.
Anwar agreed his deputy Rafizi Ramli that PKR machinery should not only be focusing on elections.
"I agree with Rafizi that we need to prepare our machinery to face floods soon and not just to focus on election," he said.
He further said he refused to betray the trust of the people who believed in the party as well as those who want a clean leader to run the country well.
