KOTA BELUD- Kinabatangan MP Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin will defend his seat if he is re-nominated as a candidate in the 15th General Election (GE15).
The Sabah Umno chief who confirmed the matter said despite facing challenges including his court case, he was confident that he could overcome it.
"If I am nominated, I will defend (the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat)," he said briefly to reporters after officiating the Gelombang Biru programme and the launch of the Barisan Nasional (BN) Kota Belud and Tuaran machinery at Tun Said community hall, here, on Saturday.
He said this when asked whether he would defend the seat that he held since 1999 in the upcoming GE15.
The Sabah Deputy Chief Minister, however, admitted that his court case to some extent also interfered with his political career at the moment.
"So far it hasn't (had an effect), but it is undeniable that it will be a restriction but I will try to separate my personal problems from leadership problems in managing the party because for me the party is more important than the other things.
"I have been in politics for a long time and I am confident I can overcome this problem," he said.
For the record, in GE14, Bung Moktar won the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat with a majority of 9,478 votes in a three-cornered clash.
