Princess of Pop Britney Spears finally opens up about the abuse she endured during her 13-year conservatorship in a 22-minute voice note.
The audio clip, which has since been deleted, was reposted on several social media platforms and garnered thousands of reactions from her fans.
In her audio statement posted by Feminist on Instagram, Spears revealed the night she was wheeled into the ambulance was all pre-meditated by her father, Jamie Spears.
"It was all basically a set-up. There were no drugs in my system, no alcohol, nothing.
"It was pure abuse,” she said.
She also stated that one thing she truly remembered from the conservatorship was that her father was controlling and he loved to control everything that she did.
"All I do remember is I had to do what I was told.
"I’d never remember feeling so demoralised and they just made me feel like nothing.
"And I went along with it because I was scared,” she said.
She felt akin to a robot where every sense of freedom in her life was taken away by her father under the name of the conservatorship.
She revealed that she could not keep her own cash, was not allowed to go anywhere she wanted freely and was even denied privacy in her own home where she could not even have doors installed.
Recalling an incident in Vegas in 2017, the international superstar regained some confidence and spoke up about a dance move that she refused to do and suggested something different during a dance rehearsal.
Alas, her confidence came to bite her back in the end because just the next day, she was to be sent away to a facility and was supposed to announce it on her Instagram that she would be needing treatment.
"I was a machine. Not even human, almost.
"It was insane how hard I worked and the one time I speak up and say no in rehearsals to a dance move, they got pissed,” she said.
Recalling that event, she was compelled to be admitted to the facility as her father had threatened her saying if she refused to go and wanted to bring this case to court, she would not have any chance of winning.
"If you don’t go, we’re going to go to court and there’ll be a big trial and you’ll lose.
"I have way more people on my side than you. You don’t even have a lawyer,” she said, echoing her father’s words.
Until today, she said to have completely lost her faith in God as she could not comprehend how it was possible for her abusers to get away from all that.
"How did they get away with it and what did I do to deserve that?” she questioned.
Initially, she felt that this was not something she wanted to share with the public as it was unbelievably offensive, sad and abusive.
The pop star was also worried that people would not believe her.
Despite so, she took the courage and spoke up against her father’s conservatorship as she wanted to bring to light that she was only human and felt victimised following the horrible experiences.
On Sept 1, 2022 she took it up to Instagram and posted a note addressing her son Jayden James Federline for speaking up to the media regarding their relationship, mainly as to why he did not attend his mother’s wedding to Sam Asghari on June 9, 2022.
On the Instagram post, the Toxic singer hoped for her sons to understand the action taken by her to uncover the harsh truths of the 13-year conservatorship.
She was also saddened to hear him speak about her not being up to his expectations as a mother.
Her ex-husband Kevin Federline was also called out on the same post for his hypocrisy in labelling the media to be bad but at the same time, allowing their son to give comments on personal matters regarding their relationship.
Towards the end, she affirmed that if her son were to think that his grandparents were good people despite putting her under intense abuse then she agreed to have failed as his mother.
The 13-year conservatorship started in 2008 following the singer’s erratic behaviour emerging in 2007 after her divorce from Federline and losing custody of her two sons.
Concerns were also raised about her mental health after a series of public incidents took place when she went bald and an incident where she bashed a photographer’s car with her umbrella.
The superstar was admitted to a hospital under a temporary psychiatric assessment in 2008, causing a temporary conservatorship to be established but it was later made permanent in the same year.
