KUALA LUMPUR - The joyful National Day 2022 celebration at Dataran Merdeka yesterday saw Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) of various races and age groups expressing their love for the country.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the Malaysian Family concept inspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was based on the values of inclusion, togetherness and gratitude could clearly be seen as multi-ethnic Malaysians converged for the celebration themed Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama (Malaysian Family Strong Together).
Annuar, the main organising committee chairman for the National Day Celebration representing the ministry, congratulated and expressed his appreciation to all working committees from the various ministries and agencies, the Malaysian Armed Forces, uniformed bodies, government-related and private companies, non-governmental organisations for their commitment and the over 20,000 participants who had contributed to the success of this year's parade.
"I would also like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support. The turnout was unexpected, over 100,000 people were present and they came as early as 4 am to Dataran Merdeka from far and near.
"The celebration this time was held on a grand scale following two years of muted celebration due to the Covid-19 pandemic that hit the country.
"The celebration was also held simultaneously on the morning of Aug 31 nationwide with the cooperation of all state governments," he said in a statement today. - BERNAMA
