KUALA LUMPUR - Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) will organise a fundraising event Tapestry of Colours Charity Dinner at Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur on Jan 10, 2023 to raise funds for the university’s foundation Yayasan UTP (YUTP).
In a statement today, UTP said the charity dinner event aims to raise RM500,000 to support YUTP’s scholarship fund as the foundation supports the university’s growth and helps its deserving students.
UTP Chancellor Tan Sri Dr Mohd Hassan Marican is the patron of the charity dinner event, it added.
The dinner event will feature musical performances from the university’s multi-talented engineering, technology and science students crowdfunding for UTP students’ projects as well as donors’ awards and recognition.
In the same statement, UTP vice-chancellor Prof Ts Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib hoped that corporate sectors, industries and individuals would support the fundraiser by becoming sponsors or purchasing tickets.
"The proceeds from this dinner will provide the much-needed funds for the granting of scholarships and bursaries to deserving students, cultivating research and innovation as well as encouraging the development of activities related to arts, sports and culture within the campus,” he said.
