KOTA KINABALU - Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) will contest in four seats belonging to the party in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Its president, Datuk Larry Sng Wei Shien said the decision had previously been made to retain all the existing seats of MPs and state assemblymen in GE15.
"In PBM, we have made a decision to retain the existing seats of MPs and assemblymen in GE15. So, when Mohamaddin and other MPs joined PBM, all the constituencies will compete in GE15.
"We held all the seats, currently we have Ampang, Tebrau, Julau and Lahad Datu. There are four constituencies and there are other MPs who will join and these additional MPs will make the state seat (DUN) not just in Selangor and Perak," he said in a press conference here on Sunday.
Also present were Lahad Datu MP Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi and Parti Kuasa Rakyat president Kamarazaman Yacob.
Meanwhile, Mohamaddin also explained that the seat he held will remain as PBM’s seat in the run-up to the election.
"Of course, if I had joined PBM, it would mean that the candidate would compete on the PBM logo. But to compete or not, I can't say anything because it depends on the circumstances.
"If I had wanted to compete but am not in good health at that time, I probably would not compete, but it all depends on the circumstances. We’ll see when the time comes,” he said.
He said Parti Kuasa Rakyat has been made as PBM’s strategic partner in facing GE15.
"In the party constitution, PBM will create a community to change the constitution to give more power to Sabah and Sarawak in relation to the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63). I think this is a positive development for PBM to welcome Parti Kuasa Rakyat.
"We also give our full support to Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as the Prime Minister and the government for the sake of the development of Sabah, Sarawak and the Peninsula," he said.
