KUALA LUMPUR - E-commerce platform Lazada Malaysia has launched the "Jualan Merdeka” and "Sapot Lokal x Kempen Beli Barangan Malaysia (KBBM)” in conjunction with the Merdeka month.
Lazada Malaysia chief executive officer Alan Chan said the company is honoured to collaborate with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) in supporting the government to spur the recovery of the domestic economy while celebrating Hari Merdeka and Hari Malaysia together with the local community.
"Through locally relevant initiatives such as the Jualan Merdeka and KBBM that have gained a strong following, we are optimistic about the positive impact that it will bring to thousands of participating local businesses.
"It will also foster greater confidence in local businesses while making it easy for consumers to buy quality made in Malaysia products at affordable price points,” he said during Lazada’s Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebrations at the Lazada Visitor Centre in Bangsar South here today.
Chan also said that Lazada will keep on innovating to help local businesses grow and achieve more success in the digital commerce sphere.
The hybrid event was in support of the national unity-themed celebration initiated by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM).
At the event, which was attended by more than 800 employees from Lazada Malaysia and guests, the Negaraku was proudly sung followed by a symbolic flag-off of the Lazada logistics blue vans that were decked out with the Jalur Gemilang.
Concomitantly, Lazada also recognised several inspiring Malaysian sellers and online stores during the "Kita Kita Lazada” seller recognition ceremony with two awards categories.
The first award category was for top-performing sellers in honour of Lazada Marketplace sellers with high gross merchandise value (GMV) that have consistently participated in both commercial campaigns and government-driven campaigns.
The second award category was for the most engaging sellers on the Lazada Marketplace that have actively contributed to the local seller’s community, motivating fellow sellers, as well as supporting seller’s engagement initiatives.
The ongoing KBBM campaign runs until Dec 31, 2022 where shoppers are able to redeem free shipping vouchers worth RM6 with a minimum spend of RM30 and RM5 off vouchers with a minimum spend of RM30.
The Jualan Merdeka campaign starts from Aug 29 until Aug 31, 2022 where shoppers could enjoy special promotions such as 50 per cent off vouchers, discounts up to 65 per cent for selected items, limited-time free shipping from noon to 2pm and Petronas e-vouchers at a special price.
