KUALA LUMPUR - Police will call non-governmental organisation (NGO) Pertubuhan Jalinan Perpaduan Negara Malaysia to aid investigation over a rally held to submit a memorandum at Gate 3 of the Istana Negara yesterday.
Brickfields District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Amirihizam Abdul Shukor said they had opened an investigation paper regarding the gathering in accordance to the 2012 Peaceful Assembly Act.
"We did not receive any notice regarding the organisation of the assembly," he said in a statement on Thursday.
Amihizam said in the incident around 2pm on Wednesday, a team of police personnel who were on duty at Gate 3 of the Istana Negara discovered the gathering.
"About 300 people dressed in black had gathered while shouting the slogan 'Hidup Najib' and 'Bossku'," he said.
Amihizam said the public was advised not to gather or have any assembly without proper authorisation.
"Any Information could be channelled to the Kuala Lumpur Police Hotline at 03-21159999 or any nearby police stations," he said.
On Wednesday, Pertubuhan Jalinan Perpaduan Negara Malaysia submitted the memorandum to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
Its President Syed Mohammad Imran Syed Abdul Aziz said the memorandum was regarding the royal pardon for Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
