SHAH ALAM - Umno Youth will lodge a police report over the spread of a document said to be the judgment of the judges over the final appeal case of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak regarding the misappropriation of SRC International Sdn Bhd’s funds.
Its chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki claimed that there was a sinister agenda to demote the principles of justice following the release of the document.
"It is shocking that a document said to be a decision paper of the judgment of the Judges of the Federal Court against the appeal of the SRC case of Datuk Seri Najib Razak went viral even though the court proceedings are still ongoing.
"This document was first uploaded on the Malaysia Today website and went viral in many WhatsApp groups and social media.
"The question is whether this document is legit and original? Is there a sinister agenda to demote the principles of justice in the country?" he said in a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday.
Following the release of the document, Asyraf Wajdi also demanded that the court immediately deny the matter in order to preserve the image of the judicial institution.
"There needs to be an immediate denial from the court so that there are no negative prejudices that could tarnish the image of the country's judicial institutions," he said.
The Federal Court today rejected Najib's final appeal to waive his conviction and fines imposed against him in connection with the misappropriation of funds of SRC International Sdn Bhd.
The five-judge panel chaired by the Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat unanimously made the decision after finding that the Kuala Lumpur High Court had made the correct decision and had not been disqualified when convicting Najib of the charges.
Following the decision, the former Prime Minister was ordered to serve 12 years in prison and a fine of RM210 million.
