KUALA LUMPUR - Controversial Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Yunos has claimed that today's Umno's emergency meeting today was to discuss on the party's preparedness on the coming general elections.
He said the meeting was organised last night.
"We were surprised with calls last night that all Umno division members need to attend today's meeting.
"We are not told about the issue," he told reporters at Umno headquarters here, today.
However, he said during the meeting at 11am today they were briefed on the 15th general elections (GE15) .
"The reason we were told to attend was to discuss over the preparedness of our election machinery at every division that may be held anytime," he said, adding that they were not informed on the date of elections.
He further said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob did not attend today's meeting due to prior engagements.
Asked why was the meeting held, he said: "To create suspense, maybe."
Earlier, Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin had said the meeting is expected to resume at 5.30pm. However Jamal told the meeting that there is no meeting this evening.
