KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Police Commissioner Idris Abdullah hopes that the 110 vacancies in the contingent to be filled immediately to ensure the security in the state.
He said the total involved 30 vacancies for senior officers of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) of the Sabah Contingent while the rest involved vacancies in the Marine Police Force (PPM).
"Based on the review of the staffing of senior police officers in the Sabah Contingent, there are 30 vacancies, namely two Deputy Superintendents (DSP), 12 Assistant Superintendents (ASP) and 16 Inspectors.
"For PPM vacancies, it is seen as critical as the PPM is the front lines of the team who are directly involved in operations in Sabah waters, with a total vacancy involving 70 officers and personnel," he said when he attended the Senior Officers' Ranking Ceremony at the Sabah Contingent Headquarters, here on today.
In this regard, he hoped that the vacancy would be filled immediately as security matters were paramount in ensuring the security of the state.
"We do not want this lack of personnel to affect the police service on the ground," he said.
