MELAKA - Wife of former Yang Dipertua Negeri Melaka Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob, Toh Puan Zurina Kassim has died this morning.
The late Zurina, 78, died at her home in Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur at 10.10am on Thursday.
She will be laid to rest at the National Heroes Mausoleum (Makam Pahlawan) at the Al-Azim mosque, in Bukit Palah, here, after Asar prayers.
Her remains were placed at the Dewan Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh, for people to place their last respect at 3.30pm.
Zurina was born in Duyong, here, on July 13, 1944 and married Khalil at the age of 21 on Feb 28, 1965.
The couple was blessed with three children.
She received her early education at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung Baru and later continued her studies at the Kuala Lumpur Methodist Girls' School.
She established the Yayasan Toh Puan Zurina (YTPZ) complex at Pantai Peringgit for charitable works and contributions for the people of Melaka.
YTPZ was established with a cost of over RM13 million and offers free hemodialysis services to the underprivileged.
