KOTA KINABALU - Media practitioners are not only considered long-term strategic partners of the police but they are also described as the voice of the community for the people in the state.
Sabah Police Commissioner Idris Abdullah said the mass media played a very important role in delivering accurate information to the community in the state.
"We should acknowledge that the mass media plays a very important role in delivering accurate information to the community and the role media has as the voice of the society is also undeniable.
"The Sabah police can hear and know what the community's grievances, hopes and appreciations are through this kind of two-way relationship," he said at a bowling match of with the media to commemorate the 215th Police Day.
Speaking about the programme, Idris hoped that the activity could be seen as a medium to strengthen the relationship between the police and Sabah media practitioners.
"In addition, we can get to know each other, exchange thoughts and develop ideas to identify a more effective approach in the efforts of Sabah police facing the challenges at the time especially the perception of the community towards the force.
"I hope we will continue to work together and interact with each other in providing accurate information towards the community," he said.
