SHAH ALAM - Harian Metro assistant news editor Mohd Firdaus Ibrahim or fondly known as Kecik has died last night after a week fighting Malaria infection.
The 37-year old father of four was reported to have passed away at the Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital in Cheras at 11.05pm on Wednesday.
He succumbed to multiple organ failure due to the infection.
He was laid to rest at his hometown in Jitra, Kedah, this morning.
Throughout his 14 years of service, Firdaus contributed to Harian Metro's success by winning various awards for his reporting.
In the latest MPI-Petronas Malaysian Journalism Awards 2021, he won a bronze award with his team for best investigative journalism.
Firdaus was described by his friends from the media industry as someone who always tries to help people.
With his experience as a senior crime reporter, he had never forgotten to guide his colleagues and those who were new to the field.
He is survived by his wife Noor Aida Noh and four children; Nur Jannah, 9, Ayra Tasnim, 7, Muhammad Rayyan, 5, and 10-month old Muhammad Uwais.
