Flight instructor died from neck, chest injuries

IPOH - The deceased pilot of a light aircraft accident at Jalan Sultan Nazrin Shah near Medan Gopeng yesterday succumbed to his neck and head injuries.

Perak Police Chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the decision was made after an autopsy was conducted at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) here today.

"The autopsy process was done and the cause of death was due to neck and chest injuries from the flight accident," he said in a brief statement to reporters.

The Incident which took place around 8pm claimed the life of flight instructor Fajim Juffa Mustafa Kamal, 52, while another victim Muhammad Din Fikri Zainal Abidin, 62, sustained injuries on his head and body.

He was still being treated at the HRPB and was reported to be in a stable condition.

Meanwhile, as of 2pm today, family members of the late Fajim were still waiting at the HRPB Forensic Department to claim his remains.

The body would be brought to Surau Al-Kauthar, Bandar Tasik Kesuma, Beranang, Selangor for the funeral prayer and would buried at a Muslim Cemetery nearby.

The accident involved Piper 28-161 aircraft with registration 9M-BAA and it was operated by BATS Aviation Sdn Bhd.

The incident happened when the plane was undergoing a training flight over Sungai Pinji after taking off from Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (LTSAS), Ipoh.
