SHAH ALAM - "Previously, people liked my clothes but when I became the prime minister, they started checking out the prices,” said Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
This comes after social media users frequently criticised and commented over his fashion sense and the price of his clothes.
He said after taking over the premier seat, his main duty was to resolve the Covid-19-related issues.
"Secondly was to fix the economy. The third was to ensure political stability. No one would come to Malaysia if political instability remains.
"When I took over we tried to solve Covid-19 problems,” he said at 2022 Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) Convention at Setia City Convention Centre, yesterday.
He further expressed his gratitude for declining Covid-19 cases and Malaysia's move into the endemic phase, and the reopening of borders on April 1.
"Economy back then was heavily affected due to lockdowns but now it is gradually expanding,” he said.
Ismail Sabri said he rarely made an appearance on television after he became the ninth Prime Minister.
Previously, Ismail Sabri’s batik fashion sense stole the show dueing his days as former Senior Defense Minister in 2020 and 2021.
However, recently he came under attack again after social media users spotted him wearing a Burberry shirt costing thousands of ringgit while the rakyat grappled with the rising cost of living.
