BANGKOK - Thailand on Thursday confirmed its second monkeypox infection, with a man testing positive in the capital of Bangkok, a senior official said.
The 47-year-old Thai man has developed symptoms including fever, pain and rashes, and was admitted to hospital for treatment on Wednesday, said Opas Karnkawinpong, director-general of the Department of Disease Control.
Opas said the patient's condition was not serious and the 10 people having close contacts with him had been tested, while local officials were still tracing other contacts.
Last week, Thailand detected its first case of monkeypox on the southern island of Phuket. - Xinhua
