KUALA LUMPUR - A total of RM10.01 million has been channelled from the Ministry of Rural Development to Felcra Berhad for the implementation of several rural entrepreneur empowerment activities under Rolling Plan 2 (RP2) of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
Its Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said that the activities comprised community engagement, sustainability of the rural industry, business premises equipment, agro-agriculture and new product development involving 568 rural entrepreneurs from among Felcra Berhad community participants.
"The distribution (of funds) is an initiative to help rural entrepreneurs to cultivate entrepreneurship as a career of choice.
"It is also to diversify the participants' sources of income so that they do not only depend on the distribution of profits from commodities," he said after presenting awards to 77 rural entrepreneurs who won the Felcra Berhad Entrepreneur Excellence Awards here today.
