SHAH ALAM - Abortion should be a woman's choice first, says ectopic pregnancy survivor, Maisara Mohd Nasir.
She said this during a discussion about abortion in Malaysia during Sinar Daily's live talk show Relatable, earlier today.
"Sometimes a legal abortion can threaten a mother's life, so at the end of the day, the mother's health has to be considered before proceeding with an abortion," she added.
She also said women who are experiencing or have dealt with ectopic pregnancy should find a strong support system to cope with the journey.
"Prioritising mental health is crucial as it takes a longer time to mentally recover from the process.
"Apart from family support, the first thing is to identify what you're going through and consult medical practitioners so that you know what to do in order to protect yourself.
"From my experience, we can recover physically but what affected me the most was my mental health so having a strong support system is very crucial," she said.
