SHAH ALAM - Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said the oral antiviral drug, Paxlovid may prevent severe Covid-19 infections.
He said the Health Ministry had offered Paxlovid medicine for high-risk individuals in categories two and three.
"Up until July 3, a total of 4,001 patients were given the Paxlovid medicine and none are showing any serious side effects.
"Since June, the usage of Paxlovid has been extended to private facilities so that it is easily accessible and usable for more Covid-19 patients,” he said in a video shared by his official Twitter account on Friday.
He said high-risk individuals with light to medium symptoms that wanted to procure the Paxlovid medicine must go through an evaluation at selected clinics or hospitals.
"If eligible following the criteria set, they would be given the Paxlovid medicine to treat their infection.
"The list of health facilities that provide the medicine can be obtained at covid-19.moh.gov.com.my,” he said.
