SHAH ALAM - Amanah communications director Khalid Samad has slammed Pejuang for rejecting the idea that PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should not lead the opposition if a "big tent” approach is taken to face the upcoming 15th general election.
The Shah Alam MP said the 'big tent' approach is meant for opposition parties to unite and topple Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN).
"The big tent means all opposing parties should unite and work together. If you don't want Anwar, it's no longer a big tent.
"If we want to beat BN and PN, all personal interests and inclinations must be set aside first. Beating BN and PN is our main priority!" he said in his Twitter account.
Pejuang Deputy President Marzuki Yahya was reported on Sunday saying that Pejuang agrees to the 'big tent' approach but without Anwar's leadership.
The idea of the big tent approach was raised by several Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders to avoid clash between them in the upcoming GE.
The idea is to have a two-corner fight in defeating BN in GE15.
