IPOH – The main suspect for the murder of a husband and wife in Taman Bercham Aman here has been arrested by police yesterday.
The 61-year-old suspect who is the younger brother of the male victim was found at a hotel in Genting Highlands, Pahang around 7.45pm.
Perak Police Chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the police also found an axe, believed to be the murder weapon used.
"A urine test was conducted and the suspect was cleared from any traces of drugs.
"With the arrest of the suspect and confiscation of key items, the murder case has been successfully solved 11 hours after the initial report," he said in a statement here on Friday.
He said the man will be brought to the Ipoh magistrate's court for a remand under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to help with the investigation.
He said the police opened the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
"Thank you to Pahang Police, resort managers, media partners and the public for working together and providing assistance in bringing the arrest of the suspect in a short time," he said.
Yesterday, the victims Ng Chuan Hon, 64 and his wife Ooi Tin Lu, 59, were found covered in blood in their living room by Ng's older brother at 8.45 am upon returning from work.
Prior to the incident, there was an argument between the victim and the suspect who also lived in the house.
After the incident, the suspect had fled to save himself and further investigations showed he had a previous criminal record under Section 325 of the Penal Code for inflicting severe injuries.
