JOHOR BAHRU - The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA), Johor chapter is targeting RM15 in sales at its fair from July 23-24 and Aug 5-7, after being postponed for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Johor MATTA deputy chairman, Kathryn Lee said the fair this time would be offering various attractive packages including for domestic tourism at as low as RM100 for two days and one night.

He said it was targeting over 5,000 visitors at the fair to be held at The Summit mall, Batu Pahat on July 23 to 24 and Austin International Convention Centre (AICC), here, from Aug 5 to 7.

"We hope that the Johor MATTA Fair this year will have a good response towards reactivating the tourism sector, whether domestically or internationally, following two years of the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic," he said at a news conference held at the Johor MATTA office, here, today.

Meanwhile, Johor MATTA chairman, K. Subramaniam said the traffic congestion, especially in Johor Bahru city could affect the arrival of tourists here.

He said it had received complaints on the matter, especially during local tour package promotions such as arriving at their hotels late at night due to the acute traffic congestion.

"They also made complaints via Facebook and other social media platforms," he added. - Bernama
