KUALA LUMPUR - Eight couples tied the knot in a wedding held at the Thoriq bin Ziyad Mosque in the Sungai Besi army camp today in conjunction with the 2022 Malaysian Army Day celebration.
The wedding was also in line with the third pillar of the command message of the 28th Chief of Army, General Tan Sri Zamrose Mohd Zain, on preserving members' welfare.
The solemnisation ceremony for the couples, aged between 21 and 28 years old was conducted by three marriage officers from the Army Religious Corps.
When met after the ceremony, Zamrose said the programme can foster the spirit of camaraderie among its personnel.
"This also helps the couples to ease their burden as well as strengthen the brotherhood among us," he said.
The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) in a statement today said the ceremony was held in cooperation with Bank Muamalat, adding that a wedding reception to celebrate the newlyweds will be held at the army camp's Datuk Jamil Ahmad Hall tonight.
The ceremony was also attended by Zamrose's wife Datin Seri Zainuriah Mustapha, Deputy Chief of Army Lieutenant General Datuk Seri Mohammad Ab Rahman and Army Western Field commander Lieutenant General Datuk Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan.
One of the couples, Lance Corporal Mohd Nur Ridzuan Zaharudin, 28, and Nurul Asyiqin Mohd Nazri, 21, expressed their joy for being selected to be married at today's event.
"The cost of accommodation and transportation for the family as well as gift items are fully funded by Bank Muamalat and MAF," he said. - BERNAMA
