LANGKAWI - Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been challenged to prove the allegation he made against former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad that the latter had asked him to dissolve the party.
The Langkawi MP said Zahid has made various claims about him but did not provide any proof.
"Where is the proof that I said such a thing. He can tell all his stories but it needs to be backed up by proof that we talked about such things," he told reporters after a meeting with ferry operators, here, today.
On Tuesday, Zahid told Kuala Lumpur High Court that Dr Mahathir had asked him to dissolve Umno because the party was untrustworthy and had no future.
Zahid said the meeting was held in June 2018, after the 14th General Election (GE14).
The Bagan Datuk MP who was testifying in his corruption trial claimed that Dr Mahathir had asked him to inform Umno members at that time to join Bersatu.
