KUALA LUMPUR - The government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has always focused on efforts to help the people, especially during this challenging economic situation, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Idris Ahmad.
He said issues other than those that touched on the people's interests of the people, including the 15th General Election (GE15), were never brought up for discussion by the Prime Minister when chairing the Cabinet meeting.
"At the Cabinet meeting, the focus is on how we want to help the people, how we want to provide assistance, whether it should be through subsidy, cheap sales programmes, that's what we always discussed, and the Prime Minister also wants the focus to be towards that," he told Bernama.
Idris said during this current economic situation, all political leaders should refrain from getting involved in power struggle.
"Being a political leader is part of the religious teachings. As such, as leaders, we must be facilitators to the people. When there is power struggle, the people are the victims," he said.
He called on all political leaders in the country to place the interests of the people before their own political interests. - BERNAMA
