SHAH ALAM – Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, might be dismissed or suspended from Umno following his revelations in connection to Umno President Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi’s role in gathering the statutory declaration (SD) among the MPs to support the appointment of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the Prime Minister.
Former Putrajaya Umno chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said he believed Tajuddin would face strict action by the party and would share the same fate as him based on the statements made which tainted Umno President’s leadership.
However, Tun Faisal added that upon such revelations, Umno President should come forward to explain to the Supreme Council and party members, whether the revelations made by the Malaysia’s ambassador to Indonesia were true or not.
"If Tan Sri Annuar Musa (Ketereh MP) previously exposed the existence of a letter supporting Anwar signed by Umno President, everyone did not believe it at that time as even though he was the party’s Secretary General, which surely uphold the integrity and involved in the party’s management.
"So now, Tajuddin is now highlighting the same issue and even more comprehensive than what Annuar has mentioned before.
"Pasir Salak MP is a credible source, as he was not only involved in the meetings and plannings, but he became the Umno MP who signed the SD to support Anwar as the Prime Minister.
"Hence, what needed to be done by the Supreme Council and Umno now is to seek explanation from the party’s president whether what Tajuddin said yesterday was true or not,” he told Sinar Premium.
Previously, Tajuddin who was the Umno Supreme Council former member confirmed the existence of the SD from Umno MPs to support Port Dickson MP as the Prime Minister.
Moreover, Tajuddin also disclosed that he was a witness who had also signed the SD, even though he initially objected the party’s proposal.
Tun Faisal had also said if the revelations made by Tajuddin was indeed true, then it obviously showed that the President has violated the basis and decision made by Supreme Council and Umno General Assembly before this which stated that the party would not have any cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH), PKR even Anwar himself or what was called ‘No PH, No Bersatu and No Anwar’.
"Now is not the matter of should Umno take action against Tajuddin for exposing the party’s secret, but even if the President himself violated the Supreme Council decision, assembly and basis, then he should be held accountable not by stepping down from his position but instead should be sacked from Umno.
"Before this, our main intention (Annuar and Tun Faisal) was to expose that the president has signed the SD showing support on Anwar to be the Prime Minister because we don’t want Umno to be the victim after it was confirmed to be true and admitted by Tajuddin himself,” he said.
It was reported that Tun Faisal who was also the Communications and Multimedia Minister’s press secretary was suspended for six years starting from March 2021, after he openly made a statement opposing Zahid.
