SHAH ALAM – Umno President Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi is unsatisfied with Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri’s position as the Prime Minister, as he was not given the chance to fill up the position, former member of Umno Supreme Council claimed.

Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said that Zahid was not fighting for Umno, but instead his return as the party’s president after a six-month break in 2019 was to enable him to be back in power.

The Pasir Salak MP said this could be proven through the Supreme Council’s decision all this while, which he claimed was not based on the 52 highest members of the party, but instead based on Zahid’s needs.

"I am a witness that can confirm there were signatures on statutory declarations (SD) letter from Umno MPs who were ‘forced’ by Zahid to support Anwar (Pakatan Harapan Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) as the Prime Minister.

"At first, I refused, however I had to sign when he started to make face with me. What is more disappointing is that Zahid said ‘No Anwar, No DAP’ outside of the (Supreme Council) meeting. That was the biggest lie to Umno members.

"Yes, Zahid did work for the new alignment which is Umno-PH, at a hotel in Kampung Baru (Kuala Lumpur), that is when several MPs signed including Bossku (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) and Nazri Aziz (Padang Rengas MP Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz).

"The fact is that he is not satisfied when he did not get appointed as Prime Minister when Umno is back in power.

"Zahid did not strive for the party, but (he strived) for him to be back in power as Umno President,” he said at the press conference, today.

Tajuddin, who was recently appointed as Malaysia’s new ambassador to Indonesia, advised Zahid to step down from his position as Umno President voluntarily.
