KUALA LUMPUR - Sinar Harian won a gold medal at the prestigious Malaysian Press Institute (MPI)-Petronas Malaysian Journalism Awards 2022 for the Best Video Documentary category titled Frontliners Mati Hidup Semula.

Sinar Premium News Editor, Zamri Rambli; Head of Sinar Harian Premium Content Unit, Nurul Riduan Nor Ashaha; Sinar Premium Reporter, Liza Mokhtar; cameramen, Mohd Qawiem Mohd Amin and Muhammad Hafiz Adnan as well as editor Mohd Nasaruddin Talkah and Afnan Imadi Zainal Ayub took home RM5,000 cash along with trophies and certificates.

Nurul Riduan, the film documentary director said that the victory is an upgrade from last year's silver medal for the same category.

"We are grateful for this. It's meaningful for us. What is important is that this documentary award is no longer monopolised by television stations," he said.

The award was presented by the guest of honor, the National Journalist Award winner, Tan Sri Johan Jaaffar.

Meanwhile, the Kajai Award was not given out this year.

MPI said this was due to the fact that no entries reached the benchmark and qualified for the prestigious award.

Sinar Harian won the Kajai last year for its report "Kartel Daging Haram” (Illegal Meat Cartel) by Izwan Rozlin dan Muhammad Afham Ramli was published in November 2020.
