Airline safety videos can be incredibly dull and boring.

But the next time you board Malaysia Airlines, you may be greeted with a quirky safety video that will keep your eyes glued to the screen from start to finish, thanks to its catchy, musical concept.

Tiara who is not stranger to the local art scene was approached by Malaysia Airlines last year when the travel restrictions were still in place.

"It’s a dream cast. We have a cross section of all sorts of Malaysians. I always try to give ourselves reasons to celebrate our diversity,” Tiara told in a report by The Star, which had an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the video production in Hulu Langat, Selangor a few months back.

"I’ve always been a big believer in how songs become an anthem for you. And also whenever I read (bad news in the) press, I keep thinking the world needs a song.

"Listening to the musical number, it sounds like the amalgamation of several songs of various styles and genres packed into a six-minute track,” she said.

Tiara also said that they wanted a Malaysian song injected with international flavour to speak to the global audience, as Malaysia Airlines carries passengers from all over the world. "I want them to pay attention. I want to engage them so that they put away their phones and watch (the video) and try to actually know what it takes to be safe on the flight,” she added.

With the infectious musical number and creative concept, she hopes passengers will pay attention to the safety video.

"This is not a normal in-flight safety video. I want them to be entertained and informed at the same time. When it’s fun you watch it again and again. Better still, if they sing along and memorise the safety instructions when they fly,” said Tiara.

The six-minute video will be posted via social media meanwhile the actual safety video will be four minutes long and will be available onboard by August.
