ALOR SETAR - The push for early general elections could influence investors confidence and it should not be held just to fulfil the "lust of one or two leaders", said International Trade and Industry minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
He said investors look at various criteria prior to investing in a country.
"They want a stable and ideal country.
"I don't think it is the right time to have GE15, because our focus should be health and safety of our people with Covid-19 still being present," he said after his meeting with Bersatu. Also present was Kedah Bersatu chief Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah.
The Gombak MP said this when asked if the push for early GE15 could lower investor confidence into the country.
Azmin added it was crucial to look at economic recovery and creating job opportunities after Covid-19 health crisis, adding that the economy is recovering but more "more time is needed to ensure the recovery goes smoothly."
"This is not the time to hold general elections just to fulfill the lust of one or two leaders with personal interest," he added.
