KUALA LUMPUR - The Federal Territories Ministry is refining the legal aspects of the land acquisition process for the redevelopment of Sungai Baru, Kampung Baru here which still does not have the consent of some residents.
Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim said it was to ensure the welfare of residents, including 37 owners who did not agree to the redevelopment as well as 291 owners who had moved to transit homes, would be well taken care of.
"I have asked for (the second hearing session) to be postponed for more than six months so that the developer and 37 (owners opposing the project) will resolve the problem and if it is not resolved, they will return to us for a solution (legally)," he told reporters at the key handover ceremony for residents of Residensi SkyAwani 3 here today.
Shahidan said the Kampong Bharu Development Corporation (PKB) is expected to issue a follow-up statement on the matter next week.
On Wednesday, PKB said the land acquisition exercise for Sungai Baru should proceed because all legal requirements under the Land Acquisition Act (APT) 1960 had been met. - BERNAMA
