PUTRAJAYA - The full investigation report and study of the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim will be obtained in coming August.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the government will also receive reports regarding the issue and action of the Pulau Batu Puteh case as well as the investigation into the claims of former Attorney General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas made in his book in the same time period.
"The committee appointed in December last year had asked for an extension for them to refine and accurately review the report," he said in a press conference at his office, here on Monday.
Wan Junaidi said further time was required for translation works to be done as some reports were written in English.
"We will work with Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka (DBP) who has the expertise to translate in various fields, ensuring that no errors occur if the translation is completed," he said.
He said the committee was also facing difficulties obtaining documents and witnesses.
"There are cases in example where it is difficult to obtain documents that are kept by specific individuals. The same goes for witnesses... Some have returned to their own respective countries," he said.
Wan Junaidi said the government was also using all expertise from in and outside the country to investigate the Pulau Batu Puteh case.
"We are using expert services from The Hague, Netherlands and England. We should get a report by August," he said.
Previously, Wan Junaidi had informed the final report regarding the case investigation of Muhammad Adib's death will be brought up to the cabinet this month.
