KOTA KINABALU - DAP’s call to work together with Parti Warisan (Warisan) to face the 15th general election (GE15) is not sincere, said Warisan Information chief Datuk Awang Ahmad Sah Sahari.
In his statement today, the Petagas Assemblyman said in facing GE15, Warisan stresses the importance of sincerity when making any form of cooperation.
"We are amused that DAP has resorted to playing with semantics as a form of defence. When the party’s secretary-general, Anthony Loke stated it was the party’s ‘stand’ to defend the three Parliamentary seats it won in Sabah, isn’t that already laying down a condition,” he said.
Yesterday, Loke was reported as saying a collaboration with Warisan for the GE15 seemed unlikely due to the cold reception from the party and to collaborate, sincerity is needed from both sides.
Loke also denied that he is arrogant in stating DAP wanted to defend their Parliamentary seat in GE15, namely Kota Kinabalu, Tenom and Sandakan.
Meanwhile, Awang Ahmad called out Luyang assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe for accusing Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal of being a hypocrite for rejecting the 'olive branch' from Pakatan Harapan.
"There were several instances of DAP’s hypocrisy that needed to be highlighted. One of the most glaring is their refusal to implement Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue share formula when (DAP National Chairman) Lim Guan Eng was Finance Minister.
"Now they have filed a legal action to seek a declaration that the share formula still applies. What horrible timing. Why now when they’re in the opposition and the election is drawing near ?,” he said.
Awang Ahmad said there are other examples of DAP’s failure to honour its promises to the people not
just in Sabah but the whole country.
Yesterday Phoong, also Sabah DAP secretary, hit back at Mohd Shafie Apdal for accusing the party of being arrogant when negotiating a possible alliance for GE15, labelling the Warisan president as a hypocrite.
On June 3, 13 Sabah Pakatan Harapan elected representatives filed a legal action to seek a declaration over Sabah's 40 per cent entitlement of revenue derived by the federal government from Sabah annually. - Bernama
